As consumers of pop culture, it is important to be aware of how the media shapes gender, race, sexuality and multiple forms of intersectional identities. How people are portrayed can have a big impact on how they are perceived within society. The lecture series was created as a way to educate people, filmmakers and non-filmmakers alike, about the power of popular media and how it can shape how people view race, gender, and sexual identity.
